About Us
A Mother's Leaacy Foundation
In 2010, two insightful young ladies, Alleah Salone (16) and Ayana Salone (13) founded Mother's Legacy - a 501(c)3 non-profit organization - in the memory of their grandmother, Mother Leila Johnson. Following in the footsteps of their grandmother who was an advocate for helping the underserved and doing mission work in her community, they conceived an organization whose primary pillars are: Education, Charity, Financial Literacy, Art and Legendary.

Mother's Legacy hosts several events throughout the year servicing their community. One of its signature events, the bi-annual Hometown Country Cookout takes place in the Kirkwood community. The Hometown Country Cookout promotes family unity, fellowship and diversity, with the 2015 Cookout reaching over 250 + people in attendance. There they honored two Hometown Legends in the Kirkwood community (aged 91 and 93), provided school supplies for the children, had a family macaroni and cheese cook-off and a Michael Jackson dance contest. Walmart came in a s sponsor providing school supplies and prizes.

Our Inspiration: Mother Leila Johnson
Leila Johnson began missionary work at the age of 12. In Church of God in Christ, she served as Founder and President of the Missionary Circle, President of the Young Women Christian Council, and other Women’s Department (50 years), President of the Young People Willing Workers, founder of house-to-house prayer meeting in Deland Florida, All-Night Community Prayer Warriors and most dear to her heart President of the District Choir Union. Mother Leila Johnson was also a member of the State Church Mothers’ Fellowship Board. Her love for the Lord, hunger for knowledge, musical abilities, missionary quest, evangelist seal and servant’s heart formulated the spiritual foundation upon which her strong religious convictions were established.

"Mother’s Legacy Foundation was created in the memory of our intimate times of caring for our Grandmother, who we called Nanny. Special times spent with Nanny included combing her hair, preparing her meals, and being her company keeper. We were fortunate to witness, on occasion, how our grandmother served others in her church and local community, mentored younger ladies, developed missionaries in training, and cared for the less fortunate before she became ill in later years. These moments and her example helped to instill what became the core values of what Mothers Legacy Foundation was created for; which is Caring, Maintaining Integrity, Serving, and Excellence."
